DAF Trucks

Through We Are You (now part of iO) I spent over three years working on the DAF and TRP platforms. We Are You placed me at DAF, so a few days a week I worked on location with the team in Eindhoven. A great experience, and also my first dive into the world of enterprise software.

Together with my team, which started out with two front-end developers, two back-end developers, a designer and an information analyst, I rebuilt the DAF Parts web shop and the TRP e-catalogue. We started from scratch, so as developers we had full freedom in how to set up the application. Together with the stakeholders at DAF we figured out what they needed and what would fit, and based on that we laid the foundation for both the web shop and the e-catalogue.

One of the key features is multi-theming. DAF and TRP each have their own look and feel, but both run on the same codebase. This meant every component had to be built with theming in mind from day one, which turned out to be a fun challenge to work on.

Over time the team changed shape and at some point I was the only front-end developer left on the project. That came with a lot of responsibility, but I learned a ton from it and I'm proud of what we've built.
